Russell Scott Anderson was born on January 20, in Pacific Palisades, but grew up in La Habra. He was always crazy about playing guitar, so that is no wonder that he began playing on it from the earliest years of his life. At age five he sneaked into sisters room to play her guitar until his parents bought him plastic version, but some years later he received from his father a real Kent guitar.
Since these days he began exploring different genres of music. Of course, there was great The Beatles influence on his further style of playing, but he also found a great deal inspiring tunes in the works of Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Hendrix, Cream, Zeppelin, Sabbath, The Who, The Stones, Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, Bowie & Mick Ronson, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Bob Marley and Syd Barrett.
As
a teen he and his friends Dirk VanTatenhove and Myles Crawley formed
their first real rock band named Eulogy. During six years this band
realized some albums and drew crowds of fans in the LA concerts. After
some regroupings and their name changes they finally broke up.
Mike
Jacobs, Eulogy manager, helped Rusty to form new band, The Living
Daylights.
There
were a lot of bands in which he played after Daylights broke up, such as
The Andersons. For the next decade and half, Anderson achieved steady
success as a studio musician, performing and writing songs for the
Wallflowers, Jewel, Perry Farrel, not to mention his own group projects,
Animal Logic until
he became a member of the LA group Ednaswap. This band realized two
video works, four records and recognizable tune for Natalie Imbruglia
hit Torn.
Rusty
for many years was a session guitar player, recording with famous
musicians on
studio albums which number is close to one hundred,
including his last collaboration with Paul McCartney. You were listening
to him for a long time on a great number of albums and songs and may be
sometimes even didnt know
that Rusty is playing there. No doubt, you couldnt not to hear
his guitar on such hit albums like Santana "Shaman", Dido "No Angel", Cher
"Living Proof", Elton John "Songs From The West Coast" and you certainly
heard unforgettable guitar hook for Ricky Martin "Livin
La Vida Loca".
Few months ago Rusty Anderson realized his own album, "Undressing
Underwater", which shows him as a consummate musician and songwriter. |
